It sounds like a clever idea but is extremely detrimental to the environment and our very health as plants and weeds have become resistant to the chemicals used to kill or knock them back, just like how we humans build an immunity to antibiotics over time. This resistance means that the farm must spray even more toxins on than before to get the same effect. This increases the amounts of toxins carried over into the crop and its harvested produce. The high levels of toxins can trigger and aid the development of an autoimmune disease.

Glyphosate the key ingredient in the herbicide Roundup which just happens to be the most commonly used herbicide in the world, youve probably hear of it or even use it yourself. Glyphosate has weevilled its way into almost anything you can think of from drinking water to wine, from food to breast milk. Its usage is so out of control and socially accepted that we risk poisoning ourselves and those around us when we use it or consume anything that is GMO or non-organic.

Designed to kill bacteria, glyphosate doesnt know the difference between good bacteria and bad bacteria nor can it tell the difference between soil and human. As Glyphosate is patented as an antibiotic new research has concluded that Roundup (and other pesticides) promotes antibiotic resistance. Research has shown that chronic low-dose oral exposure to glyphosate disrupts the balance of gut microbes, which creates a chronic inflammatory state in the gut and an impaired gut barrier. Research also uncovered that already in 1981 Monsanto knew in that glyphosate caused non-cancerous tumours that affect various organs (adenomas) and carcinomas (a form of cancer) rats. It has also been stated in a report by the World Health Organizationthat glyphosate probably causes cancer in humans.

Leaky gut has been linked to GMOs and Glyphosate exposure. The Bt-toxin, an insecticide which is produced by GMO crops kills insects as it destroys the lining of their digestive tracts which has been found to happen in humans. Holes poked in the human digestive tract from the Bt-toxin causes leaky gut which can lead to autoimmune diseases and other health issues.
