Our certified organic beef and lamb come from a small family operation south of Jackson in South West Queensland. Along with their two sons, Shane and Jane Elliot own and manage their extensive grazing property and are dedicated to the sustainable production of naturally produced beef and lamb, which is tender and flavoursome. Shane and Jane choose to farm Angus cattle as they are second to none in versatility and eating quality.
The farming region that incorporates Jackson is one of the finest beef and lamb producing areas in Queensland & Australia. It is out of the cattle tick infected zone that encompasses much of QLD, including all the coastal regions. Therefore, the use of pesticides and cattle dips are not required, as they are in many parts of Australia. The property is managed under the independently audited “Australian Organic Standard” and is certified by Australian Certified Organic.
As owners of their own certified organic abattoir in Roma, the Elliot family remain in control of the production, processing, and delivery of product direct to our butcher shop. This allows them to ensure that strict animal welfare provisions are in place and that all requirements for organic certification are continuously met. Like all of our farmers, the Elliots place a huge emphasis on animal welfare and low stress livestock handling techniques.
