Christmas 2025

Christmas 2025

It's That Time of Year!

That time of year has come around again: Sunshine Coast Organic Meats is getting your Christmas menu ready. Orders open on the 1st of November (which is tomorrow if you're reading this with the newsletter) and when we say first in, best fed, we mean it!

We source all of our Christmas products, including our hams, turkeys, chickens, and extra goodies (like potatoes and ingredients for gravy) from ethical and regenerative South-East Queensland farms. We pride ourselves on finding organic and high-quality free-range products that are better for you and the planet. While grocery stores may source their turkeys and hams from various factory farms across Australia, and supplementing with imported meat from overseas, we are committed to sacrificing quantity for quality. All of this means that our stock IS limited.

Our Christmas orders open 1st November, and you can make your purchase either online or pop in-store to order with our friendly butchers. Orders become available for pick up in mid-December (keep an ear out for specific info on this) and will have to be picked up before 1pm on Christmas Eve, when we close! Our amazing butchers, in-house chef, delivery drivers and owners will enjoy time at home with their family after 1pm on Christmas Eve, on Christmas Day, as well as Boxing Day and New Years Day.

If you're interested in delivery, please note that only our regular delivery customers (Organic Meat Club members) will be able to have their Christmas products delivered. Unfortunately, we have a limited delivery capacity and, do we need to say it?, Christmas orders are often very large. If you're unsure whether you'll be able to get delivery, please ring or visit the shop and chat about how we can help.

Products for Christmas

Our Christmas products provide a range of different formats, flavours and meats. To check which Christmas foods will suit your table, we advise seeing what's currently on shelves (as products change, go out of stock and are introduced regularly). But if you want to plan ahead, below is our regular Christmas menu.

Enjoy local Christmas hams from free-range farms across Queensland like Gooralie farm. Gooralie farm, situated near Goondiwindi on Queensland’s fertile Darling Downs, is run by Mark & Charisse Ladner. They chose to establish a free-range breeding herd to produce pork in a natural, outdoor environment. Gooralie free-range pork is free-range in accordance with Australian Pork Limited’s (APL) APIQ Free Range Certification and RSPCA Guidelines. Check out our range of hams after November 1st, including half (3.5 - 5kg) and whole (7 - 10kg) bone-in hams, house smoked, added-nitrate free, boneless from 1 - 5.5kg, boneless pork leg roast, pork collar or pork belly.

We have whole free-range turkeys and chickens from Bendele’s certified organic family farm at Kilkivan (Gympie). The organic poultry is antibiotic free, growth-promotant free, chemical free and hand processed at the farm! Even better, our free-range turkeys and chickens are raised identical to Bendele’s organic chickens, with the exception that wheat and sorghum are non-certified organic ingredients in their feed. That means no added hormones, medicines, chemicals or GMO's, even at free-range prices!

Our turkeys come fresh or frozen depending on your needs, without stuffing, or with any of our four delicious house-made stuffings. You can find turkeys from 3- 6kg to suit your family. 3 to 4 kg serves 5 - 7 people, 4 to 6 kg serves 8 - 10 people, 6 to 8 kg serves 10 - 12 people and 8 to 10 kg serves 15 - 20 people. For smaller gatherings or a less effortful main, enjoy our turkey rolled breasts or roasts up to 2kg with or without stuffing.  We have similar offerings for chicken, with whole chooks in either 1.5 - 2kg approximate with or without stuffing. We also have rolled roast with or without stuffing between 1 - 2kg.

Ham, chicken, turkey – all classics at Christmas – but would you be willing to try a bit of an under-appreciated cut? Try the duck Maryland. A Maryland cut is the combined duck leg and thigh, with the skin on and bone-in, sold as a single piece. With both the leg and thigh, this dark meat can stay tender and juicy even if it's cooked a bit long. The dark meat has a great savoury flavour which is balanced with the natural sweetness of the duck. It's a versatile cut that can be cooked either to crispy skin, fall-off-the-bone slow cooked, or confit with a festive-style sauce.

When's the last time you had a duck Maryland? Maybe Christmas this year is the time to try it with our red wine and fig sauce. Follow this recipe to make it and enjoy!

Whatever you want to enjoy for Christmas, we're here to help! Get in quick, order what you want, and enjoy the festive season!
