Tomorrow is Friday, specifically Easter Friday, and with this holiday comes the tradition to avoid meat: a Catholic act of penance and solidarity with Jesus’ sacrifice of his flesh. Fish, cold-blooded animals, and animal byproducts like dairy are permitted, whereas beef, chicken, pork, turkey etc. are abstained from. This is a very strong tradition in Catholic communities and those on the outskirts of Catholic communities, but it's not the only strong tradition for Easter. When the blessed Sunday comes around, the table is laden with delicious meat and side dishes, the best part of the holiday (even over chocolate eggs).
