Honey Garlic Chicken
The iconic flavour of honey and garlic is a popular midweek choice because it is delicious, easy to make and the ingredients are cheap pantry staples! With no added sugar, less sodium and no artificial flavours, this recipe is better than the stuff in the store.
Ingredients
- 1kg chicken drumsticks
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons tomato sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2/3 tablespoon olive oil
- 2/3 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2/3 teaspoon ground ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Method
1. Preheat oven to 200°C In a large bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, tomato sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and ground ginger.
2. Season the chicken drumsticks with salt and pepper, then add them to the bowl with the sauce, rotating them to coat. If you have time, leave the drumsticks in the bowl with a lid for up to an hour.
3. Arrange the drumsticks in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring there's a few inches of space between them. Bake for 35-40 minutes, turning once halfway through. You can also baste the drumsticks with leftover marinade halfway through cooking.
4. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve. These drumsticks are delicious with fried rice, noodle salad, roasted vegetables, spicy asian cucumber salad and so much more!
